Hi yall, I really want to do a Saiga conversion but I really dont like polymer furniture, I prefer the wood furniture like on most Aks. I know that having the wood stocks and foregrip is adding non US parts. So my question is, what are all the parts that I need to change out to make the Saiga 922...This seriously isn't a shameless plug, but consider buying a complete matching wood set made for the P-grip config and then selling your complete matching factory set as a whole. The wood used is sassafrass and isn't sanded very much. The purpose of this set was to verify the dimensions of my pattern.To do it right, you'll need; 1- a wood set (of course), 2- a lower handguard retainer (You can mod an AK one, or buy Dinzag's) 3- an AK RSB. 4 an AK gas tube (to cannibalize the upper retainers off of) 5 the ability to weld (Tig's best, but gas, MIG or ARC work too) & correctly finish steel.Curious if these are just laminates given what they did to the stock magazine. An AKM lower handguard will need some modification, the the front trunnion of the KR/KP-9 sits a bit lower, so the rear need a bit of filing/dremeling. The front of the handguard will need some light filing. The upper should just rotate on, may need a little or a lot ...
