The main nerf to Moonveil is to the stagger on Transient Moonlight, which was lowered to be equivalent to the stagger on Unsheathe (the basic Uchigatana weapon art). That's still a pretty damn good amount of stagger damage, just not absurd anymore, so it's still a perfectly good weapon for the whole game. You won't stagger every boss in two ...Right honestly everything ive tested thats nerfed still seems good. Hoarfrost is the most noticeable with a loss of of about 400+ damage per cast. SONAF is still good, as it should be for a weapon cast that long and a flame wave that can't even hit an enemy if you're half an inch above its head or on an incline.

It's busted, the damage it deals and how fast it is for only 20 FP, all other sorcery is downright useless not to mention slow. Its good, not great, better at pve than pvp though, in pve I would argue it is broken with the poise damage it does. It's a better version of the frayed blade in ds3 but to say the moonviel katana is better than the pkcs is a bit silly.You can go for more status effects by putting a cold katana in your left hand and still use the weapon art of the moonveil. The L1 power stancing will build bleed faster and having the cold will help. Status effects scale well into the higher NG+. You can still use the weapon art to break stances decently well.
